DEER Change Log

The following fields were removed from the TechType table: NumTechs, NumMeas, NumImp, NumCost, NumDEERMeas, and NumDEERCost. These fields existed for the benefit of the READI tool that the CPUC stopped supporting 2021-01-01. The eTRM has never imported or leveraged these fields and the Deemed Ex Ante team has not updated their contents since no longer supporting READI.

Four new fields added to TechType table:

• IsExempt:
  • TRUE if the TechType saves gas but does not burn gas
• HasViableElecAlt
  • TRUE if the pending working group report determines that a given gas-burning TechType has a viable electric technology
• HasRefrigerant
  • TRUE if the TechType contains refrigerant
• HasViableRefrigerantAlt
  • TRUE if the electric TechType has an alternative TechType that contains refrigerant

Three new Clothes Dryer TechTypes were added.

New MajorVersion and VersionSource records have been added for PY2025 and PY2026 (DEER and ExAnte).

Uploaded BldgHVAC weights used to produce cWtd BldgHVAC records for commercial measures delivered via upstream or midstream delivery types.

Expiration date for DEER2020 ceiling insulation measures was corrected so that they expire on 2023-12-31 rather than 2022-12-31.

For PY2024, rEVAP BldgHVAC was renamed to rEVGF to allow for evaporative cooling with more heating options as indicated by 2019 RASS. Also added the following new types: rDXEH, rEVEF, rEVEH, rEVOH, and rNCEF.

Uploaded BldgHVAC weights used to produce rWtd BldgHVAC records for residential measures delivered via upstream or midstream delivery types.

Uploaded new MeasureIDs, Technology Names, and EnergyImpactIDs for commercial packaged AC/HP systems that now require economizers per 2022 Title 24 for SEER 16-18/16-17. (SEER15 records will follow in the coming weeks to correct anomalous W/cfm ratio.)

Corrected all EUL_hou records to have ClaimSpec=True and FilingSpec=True.

New EUL_ID added for Residential "Fan Controller for HVAC" measures.

New EUL_ID (Com-GasPatioHeater), TechGroup (PatioHeat), TechType (GasPatioHeat), and UseSubCategory (PatioHeat) created for Gas Patio Heater measures.

All-electric new construction NTG_ID, Res-NC-AllElectric, added to NTG_2020 table.

Incorrect TypeID corrected for 9 technology records with Tech Type Boiler_Ec.

Two new fields, WeatherSim and FuelSubID were added to the Measure table to track which TMY weather data were used to model measures, and to indivate whether a given measure is a fuel-substitution.

The recently added WeatherSim and FuelSubID fields were removed in from the EnergyImpact table since they are present in the Measure table.

New source_status record for Commercial Cooktop added to DEER.

Several DEER2020 water heater EnergyImpactIDs in both the Measure and EnergyImpactID table were fixed, changing IDs with "-ite" to "-lte" for less than or equal to.

EUL values corrected for WEN cold-water devices.

Residential clothes washer measures were uploaded in May 2022, this announcement is to upload the QC workbook associated with these measures.

New NTG ID for water-energy projects has been added per D.15-09-023.

New values were added to DEER support tables for Water-Energy-Nexus (WEN) cold-water conservation measures. Nine EUL_IDs were added: Wtr-WaterFixt-Toilet-Res, Wtr-WaterFixt-Toilet-Com, Wtr-WaterFixt-Urinal, Wtr-Irrig-Nozzle-LrgRot, Wtr-Irrig-Nozzle-MultiStrm, Wtr-Irrig-TurfRemoval, Wtr-Irrig-Ctrl-Weather-Res, Wtr-Irrig-Ctrl-Weather-Com, and Wtr-Irrig-Ctrl-SoilMoist. One UseCategory and one UseSubCategory were added: SCW and PointOfUse, respectively. To the Irrigation TechGroup, three TechType records were added: IrrigCtrl, Nozzle, and Xeriscape. To the WaterFixt TechGroup, one TechType was added: Sanitary.

Three new residential building HVAC types were added to DEER: 

• rDXEF: central AC with electric furnace
• rDXHW: central AC with hydronic heating
• rDXWP: central AC with water-source heat pump

Two measure impact types were added:

Based on a review of Quantum's evaluation report cited by Resolution E-5152 DEER2023, the description for "NTG_ID"='NonRes-In-Ltg-LEDFixt' and "Version"='DEER2023' has been updated from "Nonresidential indoor LED linear fixture" to "Nonresidential indoor LED fixture (including High/Low-Bay)".

Per Resolution E-5152 DEER2024 for Net-to-Gross (NTG) Table
Effective Program Year: 2024. Ever since the creation of the NTG_2020 table per Resolution E-4952 DEER2020 Update, Program Administrators have been asking for improvements to this table. To this end, a new table—serving as a companion to the NTG_2020 table—is proposed to clarify when a given NTG ID may be used. The planned companion table will contain a complete list of all valid combinations of NTG IDs, Measure Application Types, Measure Impact Types, and Delivery Types for deemed and custom measures. Within the NTG_2020 table itself, however, the existing string-type fields that contain sometimes-vague descriptions of which Measure Application Types, Measure Impact Types, and Delivery Types they can be used for will be deleted.

For DEER2023 water heater measures that indicated that the normalizing unit was based on the input capacity (NormUnit=Cap-kBTUh), the VersionSource was updated to "DEER WaterHeater Calculator v5.1" and the normalizing unit was updated to output capacity (NormUnit=CapOut-kBtuh).

All water heater EnergyImpact records were revised by correcting the NormUnit from Cap-kBTUh to CapOut-kBtuh. No other changes were made. This is consistent with the "DEER Water Heater Calculator v.5.1.xlsm" that is available at https://cedars.sound-data.com/deer-resources/tools/water-heaters/.

Added the following ceiling insulation measures using EnergyPlus residential building prototypes calibrated with 2019 RASS data and simulated using CZ2022 weather data:
